This webinar, presented by HEART (https://teachheart.org/), is designed for sanctuary staff/volunteers interested in learning how to embody empathy and compassion in their communication with young people and others who visit your sanctuary or are interested in learning more about your mission and activities. These communication techniques can be used in every setting (e.g., workplace, classroom, online). We will define humane communication, which incorporates concepts from inclusive and nonviolent communication. We will demonstrate the effectiveness of various communication approaches. Participants will have the option to participate in a roleplay and reflect on their learning. Finally, we will discuss ways of applying these approaches specifically in sanctuary settings.
