Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare (CTA) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the IRS and is certified under Puerto Rico’s 1101.01(a)(2) tax code. Our mission is to provide a compassionate, responsible pathway to retirement for Thoroughbred racehorses and equines in need across the Caribbean.
We believe every horse deserves a peaceful and dignified retirement, surrounded by people who value their wellbeing and lifelong care. As the only organization in the Caribbean dedicated exclusively to Thoroughbred aftercare, sanctuary, and education on humane equine treatment, CTA is proud to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of these incredible animals.
Each year, hundreds of horses are imported into the Caribbean to breed, race, or serve other purposes, with the racetrack alone housing more than 1,200 horses at any given time. This reality makes responsible aftercare not just important but essential.
