How Do Sanctuaries Create Change?
We all know that sanctuaries have an enormous impact on animals and their welfare. They rescue, they rehabilitate, and provide a home and care – whether temporary or lifetime – for animals. But sanctuaries also educate and engage with the public. How do sanctuaries create change through these activities, and how can we know if it is long term change?
Earlier this year, GFAS initiated a survey project, gathering information from both our GFAS sanctuary community and the public. Questions included: what activities seem to make the most impact? How do sanctuaries define the change they want to see? And how has the public experienced changes in knowledge, attitudes, and behavior as a result of their engagement with sanctuaries?
In this webinar, GFAS Program Director Jackie Bennett will provide an overview of the responses to these and other questions. We will also hear from some of our sanctuaries about their own experiences, and we will discuss how sanctuaries might use these survey responses in designing programs that engage with the public.
