The Equamore Foundation has been the primary equine non-profit rescue in Southern Oregon, providing sanctuary to a limited number of rescued horses and helping law enforcement respond to reports of animal neglect and abuse. The Foundation also provides education to increase public awareness of the plight of abused and neglected animals, encouraging the horse sporting industries—essentially everyone connected with horses—to develop a sense of long-term responsibility for the animals who have given their youth and health to work, serve, and entertain their owners. The Equamore Sanctuary in Ashland, Oregon, specializes in the care of aged horses and rehabilitation of severely neglected animals, many of them seized by law enforcement or surrendered by their owners. The Foundation also administers the Oregon Hay Bank, which provides funding to horse owners in temporary need of assistance to feed their animals.
