Centre pour Conservation des Chimpanzees

The Chimpanzee Conservation Center (CCC) is a unique chimpanzee sanctuary and rehabilitation project in Guinea, West Africa. We are located in the Haut-Niger National Park, and our rescued chimpanzees are orphans who have been captured to be sold as pets after their mother is killed for bushmeat. We rehabilitate and care for these orphaned individuals, with the ultimate goal of releasing them back into the wild. The CCC’s objectives are part of a worldwide conservation effort to save great apes. The pet trade, along with hunting, habitat destruction, and disease continues to contribute to the decline of chimpanzees across West Africa, the second most endangered sub-specie of chimpanzees. By offering high standard care for chimpanzees destined for illegal wildlife traffic, the CCC promotes the efforts of the Guinean Government and Interpol to track chimpanzee traffickers, arrest, and prosecute them.
