Kids Saving the Rainforest, Costa Rica is Verified by Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries

September 30, 2021 – The Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS), the only globally recognized organization providing standards for identifying legitimate animal sanctuaries, awarded Verified status to Kids Saving the Rainforest as of September 21, 2021.

Verification means that Kids Saving the Rainforest meets the criteria of a true animal sanctuary/rescue and is providing humane and responsible care of the animals. To be awarded Verified status, an organization must meet GFAS’s rigorous and peer-reviewed animal care standards which are confirmed by a site visit and they must also adhere to a demanding set of ethical and operational principles. The Verification status also provides a clear and trusted means for the public, donors and grantors to recognize Kids Saving the Rainforest as an exceptional organization.

“We are excited to announce the Verification of Kids Saving the Rainforest,” said Kristin Leppert, GFAS Program Director-the Americas. “Kids Saving the Rainforest provides expert rehabilitative and permanent care for an array of wildlife species critical to the biodiversity of Costa Rica. The KSTR international volunteer program, educational sanctuary tours and community outreach efforts inspire people near and far, to value and protect the Costa Rican ecosystem and its many inhabitants.”

“The Kids Saving the Rainforest family is proud and grateful to have been verified by GFAS. We will continue thriving to protect the Wildlife in Costa Rica and seek ways to improve the welfare of all the animals we care for in our organization. This is a step forward to growth for the best of the animals and we are thrilled to have the support of GFAS.” said Jennifer Rice/Carmen Soto, Executive Director of Kids Saving the Rainforest.

About Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries
Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS) is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the sole purpose of strengthening and supporting the work of animal sanctuaries, rescues, and rehabilitation centers worldwide. The goal of GFAS in working with and assisting these animal care facilities is to ensure they are supported, honored, recognized and rewarded for meeting important criteria in providing care to the animals in residence. GFAS was founded in 2007 by animal protection leaders from a number of different organizations in response to virtually unchecked and often hidden exploitation of animals for human entertainment and financial profit. The GFAS Board of Directors guides the organization’s work in a collaborative manner. While the board includes those in top leadership at The Humane Society of the United States, International Fund for Animal Welfare, and American Anti-Vivisection Society, all board members serve as individuals dedicated to animal sanctuaries. www.sanctuaryfederation.org.

About Kids Saving the Rainforest
Kids Saving the Rainforest is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded by two 9 year old girls in 1999 for the purpose of educating people around the world about the ecological importance of the rainforest, and to set-up programs to preserve and protect the rainforest and its wildlife. KSTR’s wildlife rescue center rehabilitates and releases injured, sick and orphaned animals back to the wild. Animals that can never be released because they were either raised in captivity as illegal pets and became reliant on humans for food or permanently injured or disabled are cared for in KSTR’s sanctuary. KSTR also works to minimize the causes of why animals need to be rescued with their education program, reforestation project and wildlife bridges project.
